Wisconsin gun rights advocates are rallying around a Milwaukee woman who was arrested for wearing her gun to church in July. The wily woman has sued the city and four officers.
The woman was peaceful as usual at Unitarian Universalist Church, but that didn’t stop police from detaining her at gunpoint, searching and booking her as she left the premises. The police said she should have been charged with unlawful transportation of a gun, but the Waukesha District Attorney refused.
The lawsuit filed by Krysta Sutterfield states that her constitutional rights were disregarded, such as the right to bear arms and freedom from unreasonable searches.
The great news for Krysta is that the gun advocates that are in her corner, Wisconsin Carry, Inc., have a large fund set aside for lawsuits. They wholeheartedly back her, as she didn’t make any threatening gestures or remarks during the church service she was yanked from.
The scene started when the head of the church called the police department to simply ask about the legality of her carrying the gun. She was a bit apprehensive considering shootings in the area as of late, as well as a shooting at a Unitarian church in 2008.
The apprehension must have transcended the police department, as a cavalry of squad cars showed up within minutes.
