Lloyd Bertram was named chief of the New Berlin Fire Department to replace the retiring Edward Dobernig.
Bertram, who was the assistant chief of the Franklin Department for five years, will begin his duties effective October 18. He will be sworn in October 12 at City Hall.
Former chief Dobernig, who retired in April but rested on sick hours racked up over the years, was fire chief for nine years for New Berlin.
Bertram’s swearing in ceremony will commence at 3:30 pm. City Hall is located at 3805 S. Casper Drive.
